What London businesses need from a website

London is probably the most competitive online market in Europe. A law firm in the City, a fintech in Shoreditch, a restaurant group in Soho and a developer selling apartments in Nine Elms all share one problem: the customer has dozens of credible alternatives open in other tabs. In that environment a website is judged within seconds – on speed, clarity and whether it feels as established as the company behind it.

That means a London website needs a sharp value proposition at the top of the page, proof that is easy to find, pages built around the searches your buyers actually make and a route to contact that never takes more than one click. It also has to work on a phone held on the Tube with a patchy signal, which is where a great deal of London browsing really happens. Design that ignores those conditions looks fine in a presentation and underperforms in real life.

Bespoke websites, designed and built for you

We do not start from a purchased theme. Every project begins with your audience and your content, and the interface is drawn from scratch: UX and UI design, a responsive layout planned for mobile first, accessible colour contrast and keyboard navigation, and a page structure that search engines can read easily. Performance is part of the design brief, so we plan for good Core Web Vitals scores from the first wireframe rather than trying to repair them after launch.

On the build side you get a content management system your team can genuinely edit – WordPress for most company websites, or a headless CMS such as Strapi, Sanity or Contentful with a Next.js front end when speed and flexibility matter most. We also build e-commerce stores, campaign landing pages and websites for property developers with interactive availability tables, unit sheets and lead forms connected to your CRM.

Our process, step by step – and how long it takes

Every project follows the same clear sequence. Discovery comes first: a workshop on goals, audiences, competitors and the content you already have. From it we produce a sitemap and wireframes, so structure and messaging are agreed before anything is styled. UI design follows, presented as real pages in Figma on desktop and mobile. Only when the design is signed off does development begin, which keeps changes cheap and the schedule predictable.

During development we set up the CMS, load content, configure on-page SEO, redirects and analytics, then test across browsers, devices and screen readers before launch. After go-live the site moves onto a care plan. Our typical timelines are honest rather than heroic: a company website takes about 12 working days once the content and brief are in place, and larger platforms with integrations or e-commerce take longer. The technical side is described on our web development London page.

How much does web design cost in London?

As a guide, web design projects start from £1,200 (about €1,400) excluding VAT. The honest answer is that it depends on scope, and anyone who quotes a figure before understanding the project is guessing. What drives the budget is the number of unique page templates, the type of CMS, integrations with CRMs, booking or property systems, whether e-commerce is involved, how much copy and imagery needs to be created, and how much animation or interactive work the design calls for.

After the discovery call we send a fixed quote in GBP or EUR, broken down by stage, and that figure does not move unless the scope does. Because our studio is based in continental Europe rather than central London, our overheads are lower, and clients typically find us more cost-efficient than comparable UK agencies offering the same level of seniority. You pay for design and engineering time, not for a postcode.

Do you need a local London web design agency?

We should be clear: G2 Collective is based in Poland, in the EU, and we do not have a UK office. We are one hour ahead of UK time, so our working day overlaps almost entirely with yours. Workshops run on video, design lives in shared Figma boards you can comment on at any hour, and every build has a staging link so you can see progress rather than read about it.

What a local agency changes is mostly the option of meeting in a room, and for some organisations that matters – if it does for you, a London studio is the right choice. What it does not change is the quality of thinking, design or code. On our calls you speak to the senior designers and developers doing the work, not to an account manager relaying messages, and that directness is often what shortens a project most.

After launch: support, SEO and steady improvement

A website starts earning its keep on launch day, so that is not where we stop. Our care plans cover hosting and maintenance, security updates, backups, uptime monitoring and speed checks. On top of that we offer ongoing SEO, clear analytics reporting and a regular rhythm of improvements – new landing pages, conversion tests and content updates – alongside the rest of our services, from branding to 3D visualisation.

We are a good fit for London companies that want a bespoke website with senior attention and a sensible budget: professional services firms, technology businesses, hospitality brands and property developers marketing new schemes. If that sounds like you, book a call. We will look at your current site, talk through goals and timing, and follow up with a fixed quote and a realistic plan.
