Web Development Manchester
Web development Manchester brands use to sell, publish and grow online: G2 Collective builds fast e-commerce front ends, headless CMS platforms, WordPress sites and custom web applications for companies across Greater Manchester. We work remotely from the EU with an English-speaking senior team, one hour ahead of UK time, and we stay with the product long after launch.

What Manchester businesses need from a web development partner
Manchester has grown into one of the UK's strongest digital cities. MediaCityUK in Salford anchors broadcasting and content production, the Northern Quarter and Spinningfields are full of agencies and software companies, and the region is home to some of the country's best-known online retailers. Websites here are expected to publish at pace, sell around the clock and cope with traffic spikes when a campaign lands.
In practice that means content platforms that editors enjoy using, storefront front ends where load time directly affects conversion, and the less glamorous tools behind them – stock and order dashboards, wholesale portals, booking systems. We also work as an overflow development team for Manchester agencies whose designers need dependable engineers. The full range is listed under our services.
Headless CMS or WordPress? An honest answer for content-led teams
For a media or e-commerce business the CMS is a daily working tool, so we choose it with the people who will use it. WordPress remains a sound choice for editorial sites, blogs and straightforward company websites: editors know it, the publishing workflow is familiar, and a custom-built theme with a disciplined plugin list is fast and secure. It becomes the wrong choice when the same content has to feed a website, an app and in-store screens.
That is where headless comes in. Sanity gives editors structured content, live preview and real-time collaboration; Strapi is open source, self-hostable and easy to extend in Node.js; Contentful and Kontent.ai bring enterprise workflows, localisation and permissions. For application data – customers, orders, bookings – we use Supabase on Postgres with authentication, storage and realtime updates, plus Node.js services for custom logic, and we integrate payment providers, CRM and stock or fulfilment systems so data is entered once.
Front ends built for speed: Next.js, React, TanStack and Angular
Most projects we take on here are public-facing and sensitive to load time, so Next.js is a frequent recommendation: it lets us pre-render category and article pages, stream dynamic parts, optimise images and keep Core Web Vitals healthy even on mid-range phones. Plain React is the better fit for logged-in products where search visibility is irrelevant and interaction is everything. Angular earns its place on larger back-office systems with complex forms and long-lived codebases.
For data-heavy screens we rely on the TanStack libraries – Query to keep server data fresh without hand-written caching, Table for order lists and reports with very large row counts, Router and Start for type-safe, full-stack React applications. Accessibility is treated as a requirement, not an extra: semantic markup, keyboard navigation, colour contrast and screen-reader testing to WCAG AA. Where the brand or interface needs work first, our web design Manchester service covers UX and UI.
How much does web development cost in Manchester?
Cost follows scope: how many page templates and components are needed, whether there is a shop, how many third-party systems must be integrated, how much content is migrating from the old site, what level of accessibility and performance is required, and whether design is included. After a short discovery we give a fixed-scope quote for defined projects; for ongoing product work we offer a monthly retainer with dedicated developer capacity. Both are quoted in GBP or EUR.
G2 Collective is based in Poland, inside the EU, with no UK office and no Manchester studio – we work remotely. Because our cost base is European, senior engineering time is typically more cost-efficient than at a comparable UK agency. We are one hour ahead of UK time, so the working day overlaps almost completely, everyone you deal with speaks fluent English, and our contracts assign the intellectual property in the code to you.
Our engineering process, including how we use AI
Projects are led by senior engineers and written in TypeScript across the front end and back end. Every change goes through a pull request and a second pair of eyes. Automated tests cover critical journeys such as checkout, sign-up and publishing; a CI/CD pipeline runs them on each commit and deploys to a staging environment where your team approves work before release. We document the architecture, the content model and the deployment process, and we hand over repositories and accounts in an orderly way.
AI-assisted, agentic coding is part of that process. In plain terms, our engineers use AI coding agents to speed up well-defined tasks – generating boilerplate, converting designs into component skeletons, writing and extending tests, refactoring repetitive code. The agent proposes; a senior engineer decides. All output is reviewed by a human, run through the same tests and CI checks as hand-written code, and rejected if it does not meet the standard. It shortens routine work, it does not replace engineering judgement, and we never ship unreviewed AI code.
After launch: maintenance, support and the clients we suit best
Our support plans include an SLA with agreed response times, security patches and dependency updates for the framework, CMS and plugins, uptime and error monitoring, backups, and periodic performance checks against Core Web Vitals. On top of that, most clients keep a monthly allowance for iterative development – new landing pages, checkout experiments, integrations, seasonal campaign features.
We suit Manchester e-commerce brands that have outgrown a template store, publishers and media companies that need a modern content platform, agencies looking for a steady development partner, and growing firms that want a custom web application without building an internal department. Browse our projects, then book a technical call – we will tell you frankly what we would keep, fix or rebuild.
